Choose a music video of your choice and analyse using the male gaze theory.
- Think about the relationship between the singer and the audience.
- How does the singer look at the audience?
- How does the audience look at the singer?
- What is the audience looking at?
- Is the representation (costume, make up etc) provocative in any way? If so how? Why is the representation provocative? Is it necessary?
- Comment on the notion of power in the video. Who has the most power - is it the singer or the audience or a bit of both?
