Year 12 Planning

You need to decide the following roles:

  1. director
  2. assistant director
  3. camera person
  4. sound person
  5. singer and guitarist
  6. lead guitarist
  7. bass guitarist
  8. drummer
Some of the behind the camera roles may need to be shared so that everyone is involved.

You need to provide:
  1. costumes
  2. drums
  3. three guitars
You need to decide:
  1. location
We will provide:
  1. location supervision
  2. camera
  3. lighting
  4. SD cards

Year 12 The Continuity Exercise

As part of the transition from AS to A2 you must walk into a room and sit down. This activity is the first part of your A2 coursework and must be completed by all students. Work in a group of no more than 4 students. All students must produce their own storyboard and edit their own version of the footage

  • Director
  • Camera operator

  • Close up
  • Extreme close up
  • Medium shot
  • Long shot
  • Match on action
  • Shot reverse shot
  • Two shot 

Year 12 Music Video Preliminary Work

Over the next four weeks you need to complete the following tasks:
  • Continuity film activity (every student to complete and edit)
  • 30 second lip synching task (every student to complete and edit)
  • 60 seconds music video prelim. consisting of a storyboard, filming and editing. The song choice is I Bet You Look Good on The Dancefloor by Arctic Monkeys


w/b 9th June:
  • Introduction to continuity activity and basics of shot composition
  • Storyboard continuity activity
  • Film continuity sequence
  • Edit continuity sequence
  • Complete lip synching task-lip sych first 30 seconds of chosen song. All students to complete.
  • Edit lip synching task.
w/b 16th June:
  • Storyboard first 60 seconds of chosen song.
  • Assign group roles-director,camera person, sound, band.
  • Organise all instruments and outfits.
  • Begin filming.
  • Complete all filming.
  • Begin editing (in groups edit the same footage).

w/b 23th June and 30th June:
  • Complete editing.
  • Begin research and planning for September.
NB: The week beginning 23rd June will be disrupted due to: UCAS day, 'health day' and sports day.
